Alright listen up, you dunce. The joke is dark because it sets you up to think the dad was a great pilot in a good way, but then BAM! He died in 9/11, which is a super tragic event. It's funny 'cause it's unexpected and messed up. And you, you probably still think the Earth is flat, you goof.
