Listen up, buttercup. This "joke" is based on wordplay. "Fast" has two meanings: 1. To abstain from eating. 2. To move at high speed. Before a race, people fast (abstain from eating), which sounds like they need to be fast (move quickly). Get it? Probably not, you donut.
