If Wishes Were Horses

Listen up, buttercup. This "joke" is saying if wishes came true easily, beggars would be riding horses. Then it goes on to say if turnips were watches, they'd wear one. And finally, if "ifs" and "ans" were pots and pans, tinkers would be out of a job. It's just a silly way of saying things aren't always what we want them to be, especially for someone like you, who probably still thinks the Earth is flat.
