Listen up, buttercup. This joke is funny because Stephen Hawking was a brilliant scientist who used a wheelchair due to ALS. "Stand for army" is a play on words because he literally couldn't stand, as in stand up straight, for any army. Get it? Or do I need to draw you a picture?
