Hey, dummy, this joke is funny because it uses the double meaning of "run home". In baseball, "running home" means scoring a point. For orphans, "running home" means running to their parents' house, which they can't do because they don't have parents! BTW, you should know orphans are people who have lost their parents. Sad, but true (and good material for dark jokes!).
