Football has resumed in the Faroe Islands since May 9, 2020; and this worries me! What will happen to those who are ignored during the coronavirus pandemic? The Spanish flu pandemic killed twenty-five million people; the average age of the deceased was 81 years old; that is, the same as the people who have died from the coronavirus in Germany. This is inhumane and is equivalent to a devastating plague.
The coronavirus can only be contained by taking sensible measures by governments around the world. However, there is a problem with the self-destructive path that Belarus has taken! They are taking practically no measures to combat the coronavirus! Unlike the Faroe Islanders, they never stopped holding football matches and are holding games in front of spectators without any problems! This creates a breeding ground for the coronavirus; anyone who does not use common sense is putting themselves at risk. This is a well-documented fact, and the situation in Belarus confirms it.
Because vital, life-threatening factors are ignored, the number of deaths in Belarus is underreported, simply because it is not a priority for the global interest or for our collective engagement in this issue. And while masks are not being worn properly—as seen in the photos of groups of five to eight—the Russian government is not seen as representative of Western countries.
