Diverse Friend Group and a March Question

My friend group is pretty diverse. I'm Japanese, one friend is Filipino, one is American, one is Italian, and the last one is German.

Out of everyone in the friend group, the Filipino and the American were the quickest to feel uncomfortable when I asked, "Who wants to go on a march with me?"

The joke plays on the dark humor of historical marches associated with aggressive or totalitarian regimes. The speaker is Japanese which might make a person think of war marches in WW2. The punchline focuses on the Filipino and American friends reacting quickly with discomfort. Their historical ties to opposing forces in those conflicts are part of the discomfort.

Don't get it think u just trying y brag about having 4 friends

In WWII, the Japanese army made American and Filipino POWs march in the Bataan Death March, where hundreds of POWs died. That's why the American and Filipino friends felt uncomfortable when the Japanese friend said, "Who wants to go on a march with me?"
