Urgent Call for Moderators and Site Improvement

    • @matt, we needs mods. Ppl say you spend more time on Sw than here and idk if that's true, but with the lack of you, and the Mods you oversee. We really do need them. I probably don't need to do this, but in my eye a request is more lightly meaningful the more evidence you give, so here are the main reasons, (in no particular order) and who is the most trustworthy and eligible for being a Mod, I'm my eyes, and I'd like to think I speak for most of the older users of WJE as well.

    Reasons: The "Anime" Alts For a good few weeks now, the site has been picking up a number of new members. except it hasn't been. If you imagine it as a Venn diagram, a number of these accounts have been made in August,when you look at the date, each account has been made with on the 8/something and for a site like this is unlikely we'd get that many community users within a short ammout of time (this is the first circle) The other accounts have been made with very obvious ties to the anime community, mainly MHA (pfp, bios, convo topics and posts, even memes) (this would be the second circle) and in the middle you have a cross, between the 8/s and the animes. Most of these accounts are in the middle part, being both that of 8/s and Animes

    Now, aside from speculation, there is no way to prove that they are alts. But I feel we have a good enough case anyway: 1 they ALL use a laptop. Or that is most lightly the case, when you use a phone or mobile device on WJE, you automatically get a capital letter at the start of your sentence, that is how the keypad is coded. On laptop and similar devices, the keyboard is coded to type. It's not built with auto correct, or grammar fixers, that is site or software based.

    2 similar interests, MHA seems to be a reoccurring theme with most of the anime alts, all having, usernames and conversations abt the MHA community and story plots, etc

    3. Uses capitals to put emphasis on words. Now this is a very common thing on the Internet, but they all do it.

    Separately, these mean nothing. Put them together, you have multiple users, all laptop based, with similar interests and typing styles all joining the sub section of a site, and having null to do with the official goal the site was created for. None of then post jokes, only a few post memes. All of them are spamming the community.

    2nd reason, JaBe JaBe is a user who has been spamming and annoying people repeatedly, wither he has anything to do with the alts I do not know, but still, without the help, power and protection of alts we having nothing stopping these liars who want to ruin a space where many of us go to enjoy ourselves.

    Solutions and Mod recommendations,

    Now, obviously Alts aren't against the rules, and they're is no way to be certain unless you give someone the power to run IP checks and IP bans, which could be alot of power not be trust someone with, but the fact still stands, what can we do?

    (I would like to say that I do not know how easy it would be to code/create some of these ideas, but please do not be put off by that for the moment)

    User Blocking Being able to block another user, pretty simple, you can see, anything they post or say, jokes, memes comments etc. This would maybe make problems when trying to communicate with someone and a blocked user enters, and the person you were chatting with, talks to them so... yk completions.

    User muting I have suggested in the past to battle spammers, the post admin could mute or delete what other users say in the comments of their post. From your response in the past I don't think you like this much, I don't really get why, but I wanted to include it anyway.

    Mangers Basically a leveled up Mod, able to do IP checks and IP ban requests (requests to you) and basically tackle whatever is said while your not here.

    More Mods What this whole post is about, requesting more Mods.

    I am going to be straight forward when I say that Heroin Monkey should be a Mod. He is one of the oldest users on the site and still checks in daily, he's never completely bullied someone, just a few light remarks now and again. But everyone has done that.

    Uk, is another recommendation. Again checks in every day, and is up to date with what's going on in the site at all times.

    Now I don't wanna sound like I'm above everyone, but my name has been mentioned when we've been discussing this. I'd be happy to Mod, I check in everyday and I can tell quite easily who are alts and who aren't. I will say, I'm not the calmest or kindest, if said and posted alot lf things in the past which I regret and have tried to fix, but I can see why I would not be taking seriously when choosing a Mod.

    That's it pretty much, I've probably left out a lot more stuff which I hope the comments will help fill in but aside from that.
