Litmus test to detect nazis:

Do you think nazism should be made illegal?

We are not revealing anything else but asking that simple question. If you say ANYTHING else, they will try to reply to everything else. So, just ask the question. We are looking for the initial response.

If the reply is "define nazism", you are talking most likely with a nazi. You see, we never defined nazism so whatever image popped in their head is THEIR definition of it. So this counter question is irrelevant and the only reason they say is is the good old "is everyone right from Lenin a nazi?", or some other bullshit where we suddenly have some troubles knowing what a nazi is. A person that isn't a nazi will instinctually use the definition they had in their head as they are NOT LOOKING FOR TRAPS... Nazis are.

If the reply is about freedom of speech, the followup queston is "what good things are in nazism that we should preserve it?". The person can be just an naive idealist, doesn't understand that we can make exceptions to the rule. By default no ideology should be banned but this does not mean that NO ideology can EVER be banned in fear of this act opening a pandoras box. Didn't happen in ANY democratic country that has banned nazism. Freedom of speech is limited already in every country, there are exceptions.

"Thoughtcrime" is a red herring, most likely a nazi but can also be just naive idealism. We are not banning thoughts, we are banning ACTIONS.

"But if we ban then they will be hidden and we don't know what they do". Can be an ally. It is far better that nazis hide in cellars and attics and whisper to each other than marching on our streets.

"Then we must ban communism too". Most likely a nazi, even more certain maybe than any other response. Demanding that their ENEMIES are banned.. that is very convenient. There is no need for any symmetry, no balance in the universe is shaken if we just ban nazism. There is a tangent, "tell me what is evil in communism as an ideology that it should be banned?" but that takes a wall of text, in short: there is nothing evil in it on paper, implementations have been horrific tragedies. But THEY DO NOT KNOW THAT... They never do but they will always, without exception say "100 million dead" so you can explain why that is bullshit while asking that question, pre-emptively cutting that nonsense to save time. But, most often this just leads to never ending circle of hell, where they refuse to admit that ideology and implementation are different things.

And of course, if they refuse to answer but keep avoiding it, deflect all over the place, attack you.. The longer it takes: the more certain it is that it is a nazi. There are exceptions, sometimes you get a curveball but i have never had a curveball from a nazi, the "thoughtcrime" and "no ideologies should be banned on principle" have no real troubles at least saying that "it would be great if we can do that. Oh, yeah, forgot one: "It is impossible to do" or " we can't find every nazi", that is basically already "yes, we should but it is impossible". No law is perfectly followed, murder is illegal but they still happen.. Just a lot less if it wasn't illegal.

PS: nazism is evil on paper and in practice... it fucking is based on massive genocide of billions of people.
