Listen up, buttercup. This joke is playing on two meanings of "dropping dimes." Usually when a rapper is "dropping" something, it means they are releasing music. A "dime" is slang for ten cents. But "dropping dimes" is also a basketball term for throwing great passes. So, the rapper went broke because he was either releasing music for almost no money or was a baller instead of a rapper.
