Main Char thinks she killed her friend like one of the earlier ideas... but actually her friend is not dead. Her friend wanted to fake her own death because of whatever reason you can think of and she asked main char for help. But so that main char can't accidentally spoil her friend's secret, she had a laser that makes people forget what they do or something like that. and then she placed the scene like this that even main char believed that she really killed her but the memories come back bit by bit and the secret unfolds.
