He noticed that he could stay above water for longer periods. His progress was slow, almost niggardly, but it was progress nonetheless. The other fish began to take notice, their niggardly attitudes starting to shift. One day, a young fish approached Finn. He had been watching Finn's niggardly progress and was inspired. He asked Finn to teach him, and Finn agreed. They trained together, their progress niggardly but steady. The pond's atmosphere began to change, the once niggardly support turning into admiration.
