The Sleep Experiment

I was driving, driving to the hospital. I'd only be asleep for a year. Only a year, right? “It'd be too late to back out now” I thought to myself. So I just kept driving. Soon the sky went dark, and all cars had headlights. It wasn't much longer until I arrived at St.nicks hospital. Once I finally did, it was definitely too late to back out, so I went inside. I went to dr.Foreman’s office. “Jackie!” I heard from behind me and I turned around. “Come into my office so I can explain further about this experiment.” I went into his office, looked around, seeing the clock that read 11:15. “What is there to explain?” I asked. “Oh! Well, for a year you'll be in this coffin-like machine right here. It releases gasses that keep you asleep, meanwhile we monatier how your brain acts during R.E.M sleep, and mounturing any dreams and or nightmares you happen to have.” He replied with. “That's... A Lot. I guess let's get started then.: Dr. Foreman had gotten up, as did I. We both walked into a pretty empty room, besides a big white rectangle,with what looked like some type of white smoke coming out of it. “Alright Jackie, you go here,” Dr. Foreman said. I went without a reply or hesitation. It was cold, Dr. Foreman closed the lid, it was dark as well. It wasn't for long before everything went black, and I fell asleep. ---------------------- ---------------------- I woke up in my bed to a girl in a bloody gown, holding a knife. Quickly I flipped on the light, shaking as she disappeared. I sat on my bed, trying to calm myself down. I got up and went to my fathers room. Dad?” I asked. Just hearing an alarm in the distance. . I didn't see my dad or his girlfriend. I had jumped up from hearing knocking on the door. All I felt was panic as I went to open the door. “Jackie?” I was relieved when I saw my aunt. “Do you think you could give Mal a ride to school? I'm late for work already? “Of course.” I said as Mal, my cousin walked in. After I had finally calmed down from all the panic, I went into my room pulling out my chromebook to do some work, but it just shut down. “Mal?” I asked, leaving my room. “Mal, can I use your chromebook for work?” I looked around for Mal, seeing her nowhere. “Ma-” I almost fully asked, then the lights flickered, turning off. The tv turns to bright white static, hurting my eyes. I felt myself filled with fear as I read the words on the screen. “She's in the basement” I froze in panic, just staring. After a second of just staring I ran to the basement and down the stairs. I saw Mal and froze. She was tied to a chair, blood and wounds all over her face as she's knocked out. It looked like there was cuts a few inches deep on her arms, blood falling down her body in her soft brown hair. Her head was hanging down like she had just been shot. “Mal!!” I yelled out, running and picking up a knife. As i got close to her i felt a force throw me into the wall, i saw nothing and felt my ears ringing and a banging in my head. For a second everything went black, once my vision came back it was very blurry. I reached and grabbed the knife I had dropped, pulled myself up and ran. I ran to Mal, starting to cut the rope. “Mal?” I asked with a bit of hope as I saw her hand slightly rise. Then all that hope falls and I feel fear as my hands quiver. I saw a tall figure. It looked like it was covered in cuts. Its eyes were gouged out, bleeding black. Its mouth was sewn together with broken string up to its ears, its mouth all bloody, clothes all torn. It was holding Mal's neck, I saw it for only a second. Mals head was still up, i could see her face turning pale. I was frozen in horror. I had no idea what to do. ----------- I closed my eyes, I just wanted it gone. I wanted to wake up. This felt too real. I was completely terrified. Next thing I know I felt a light breeze and I was sitting down. I opened my eyes and saw that I was on a school bus. I sighed in relief and I felt the breeze coming in from the window above me.- I looked around, seeing very few other people, I saw someone that looked kind of like Mal. Before I could fully look at her, I felt a huge gust of wind right beside me. For a second I was confused, then scared. Right beside me the entire bus wall was missing. I looked down seeing a huge ditch, covered in mud, trees, and rocks. At the bottom I see a rock river. I went to the edge of the seat, away from the missing wall. I had breathed slowly to calm myself down, telling myself the bus is safe. The second I calmed down, the bus went fastly on a curb, and I flew down the ditch.
