Terrorism Is Wrong

terrorism is WRONG. Terrorism, as best defined, has four general characteristics of wrongdoing. Uses or threatens violence. It usually provokes fear. It uses people as instruments without respecting them as autonomous moral agents. try to force. These make terrorism morally wrong because it involves inflicting serious harm and violating human rights. Political terrorism is also wrong because it undermines trust, provokes conflict within liberal societies, undermines autonomy and disrupts social order. State terrorism violates the nation-state's obligation to protect its citizens from harm and human rights violations. International terrorism threatens peace and security and violates national sovereignty. Racial terrorism invariably violates the moral right of victims to be treated fairly and often oppresses members of the race exposed to terrorism. Quasi-terrorism within the family violates special moral responsibilities to the family, destroys the necessary conditions for intimacy, and often causes post-traumatic stress disorder. These unjustified qualities are not limited to innocent victims. Innocence is relevant primarily because it eliminates the justification for terrorism as a defense against unlawful aggression.
