Reflections on the Australians' Era and Advice for the New Community

MEMORIAL POST To the New Era,

The "Australians' Era," which ran from late 2021 into early 2023. The site operated differently back then. All the original members from that period have left now. We were a specific kind of immature, young crowd that was pretty active. We had a lot of community, both good and bad. It was a time of low-quality jokes, drama and high energy.

The community back then was a complete mess. It was fun, sure, but also full of arguments over everything. People fought about moderation, content quality, and personal stuff. Let me be clear: those old conflicts meant nothing. They were noise. Arguments on this website means nothing, don't be like us.

The core advice for current members is straightforward. First, enjoy your time here. The purpose of the site is simple: tell terrible jokes and interact with others who appreciate that. Be a friendly presence in the forum threads. Also, maintain some level of normalcy; don't be weird or people are gonna make fun of you.

Finally, consider the personal impact of your time here. The most valuable outcome of using WJE should be a net positive. Aim to be a better person after having been here than you were before you discovered the site. It is a corny sentiment for a website built on bad humor, but it matters. Take the advice and live your life well.
