The sun began to rise; the warm blanket of sunshine began to fill the kingdom’s window, the scent of pumpkin candles and the delicate orchids that had been passed through the royals’ bloodline for years.
Lizsia’s brown, caramel, chocolate-like eyes, fluttered open upon the new scents filling the air. Her warm orange hair was curled like a cat’s tail on a tree branch. Her voice, soft as warm butter as she yawned, “Well, good morning to me I guess.” She said, throwing her feet over the fluffed coverings. Rubbing her eyes, as she turned to face out the warm window, the pine trees filling the whole forest. She smiled; her soft rose-like lips curved into something softer than a grin. It was intoxicating to see. As she stood and began the morning routine, she headed to her restroom corridors to bathe in the warm, bubbly, bath.
She took a deep inhale of this scent, of the warm Saffron Crocus. The exotic, crimson, earthy fragrance intoxicated her lungs; it was a smell she could get so used to.
She ran her fingers into the warm water and took off the night gown as she slipped into the warm water, letting it run on her body, enjoying the feeling of the weight of something ever so small, feel like an anchor in the morning. She began to hum this old lullaby her mother always had sung to her when she was just a child.
“Ravens crows and Sunflowers bloom. Oh, sweet lilac of mine, do truly stay. The beauty appears inside your pollen, as it flows your heart grows.”
And as it was, the meaning was ever so deep. Her smile grew on her face; she turned and stared out of the golden rimmed window as she began to lather the well-made and spun body soap, with the scent of lavender and pumpkin.
She watched the young children of the kingdom chase each other around, she found a sense of calming settle into her veins. She finally allowed herself to relax as she rinsed off the body lather. After she stepped out of the tub, she threw a towel over her warm, tanned skin. She settled down into the days of clothing. An extraordinary orange and white dress, that hugged her silhouette around the waist, hugging her in a comfortable way that was not squishing her insides.
She slowly turned towards her mirror and flashed a triumph grin of tackling this ever so hard task, then she decided to turn and walk to the jewelry she used to wear all the time, but these pair of pearls were calling her name like a siren’s song, she walked steadily towards the grand box, full of sparkling, shining, beautiful gems and golds. She crouched down slightly enough. Then she held the pearls in her hand, then she walked back to the mirror and muttered. “Hmm, not bad Lizsia.” She then twirled her fingers in her hair, then turned to face the door, then she began walking down the grand hallway, full of portraits and paintings of everyone and everything in this castle, it’s kind of tired her as she wished for excitement in her life. But she was overall just jinxing herself. She started to think to herself,
:INNER MONOLOUGE.:
“If I just ever so happen to get me a husband that would be worth my time and not just a weird old guy who just has like… Ten more wives, then I might actually want to have this.”
:END OF INNER MONOLOUGE:
As she was caught inside of her thoughts, she hasn’t noticed the sudden tall, muscular, enchanting man, He had the dark blue eyes that caught hers, and her face instantly turned a warm shade of red as she began to stutter out an excuse.
“I- You- I- We- She- “
She gestured wildly to everywhere but him, but the man tilted his head and smirked,
“Glad to meet you too, isn’t that, right?”
He extended his pale strong hand to her, expecting her to shake back. And her mind was going into overload; she began to overthink the whole situation. Then she reached for his hand with an embarrassed whine,
“You-… You saw nothing,”
He smiled and flashed a pearly smile,
“Oh, I fear I must have not truly introduced myself. Haven’t I?”
She nodded and turned askance.
“M-My name is Lizsia… Lizsia York... You?”
He nodded and smiled
“Well, it must be a true pleasure to meet someone as beautiful as you. My lady, Lizsia. My name is Geldred, Geldred Collingtuns...”
Lizsia smiled softer than she had at anyone else, then she just turned to him openly and noticed how much he looked like someone she used to know, after a while. It all began to click; it was her old friend who was banished from being a thief. Her breath hitched, butterflies that never subsided began fluttering more than they had before.
Geldred noticed; his eyes squinted as he stared into her. His ice-like blue ones staring into her fluttering caramel orbs, then he asked with obvious and worrying concern
“Lizsia… Are you okay my friend?”
She stared into his eyes and just… Looked. It was still the old him she knew, then she decided to ask something
“Yes, I am fine… Well, I would be more then delighted to have you at my dinner party
She stared into his eyes and just… Looked. It was still the old him she knew, then she decided to ask something
“Yes, I am fine… Well, I would be more then delighted to have you at my dinner party tonight, if it is okay with you… You know, to catch up?”
Geldred stared into her eyes, looking to see if she was just playing around or if she were to be serious.
“You are joking... Right?” He asked, with a tightness growing in his throat.
“Why would I ever play a trick on my greatest friend…” Lizsia said, staring into his eyes, an evident sincerity searing into his own hesitating gaze. The room seemed to slow down as she waited for an answer.
“W-Well... It has been a while… A-Are you sure you want me to come over?” He asked, complaining… But just I missed you..., Even though I am worried how you got past the guards.”
Geldred grew a sheepish grin that spread wide on his face, and he admitted quietly
“I lied...” His voice grew sharper as he grown to defend himself “Well! I missed you, and it has been years and I…”
His words died in his throat as he stared at her,
“You… Missed me?”
Her face grew warm and she said
“Yes, I missed you… You big dummy.”
He gasped, playing offended and yelled
“I’m not that dumb!”
She hummed towards herself and smiled.
“Sure, you aren’t.”
He gasped and huffed, then remembered
“Well, yes then. I will attend your ever-so- royal party. Your majesty.”
He said that with his voice dripping in sarcasm.
“Finally.”
A few years passed after she had confessed to him; the engagement had gone well. Then, her friend was introduced to Geldred.
Velvet walked into the library, where the place smelt like fresh apple pie, September mornings, and a good vibe that was held.
As they turned to watch her, the carpet was red and smooth. She turned to face Geldred with her nose turned up, making him feel lesser. But she noticed how… Loaded… Rich… And exceptionally handsome. She instantly turned softer. Her harsh dark crimson eyes smoothening to a blood red soft like silk gaze how she watches some puppy play with a moot.
She then approached him, ignoring Lizsia completely and sat beside Geldred. She stared at him with a predatory gaze, then her eye dropped down to the glinting rings on his finger. Then she stared at Lizsias’ engagement ring, and wedding ring on her finger. Her eyes turned painfully poisonously.
She then stared at Lizsia with a fake tight smile, and spoke
“So, I fear I have not said anything yet. I am so sorry about that…”
Then she started to talk and talk, speaking how she just recently saw her might to be husband. While eyeing Geldred, and an ungrateful wife while eyeing Lizsia.
As the day subsided into the cold September night that consumed the windows, stars shining through the white metal rimmed window. As Velvet had started to leave, the two married lovebirds felt relieved that they had not realized they had been holding in. As Lizsia started to look at Geldred. Her stomach was dropping all the way down to her feet. Then she said
“I will be careful if you are true... She has some ties to the infamous witch of the Bilmoore alley.”
Oh, and how she jinxed it. That morning began to set through the windows, the sunshine pouring through, the orange light pouring through, Lizsia turned and stared at the spot where her husband would have been. But there was a little raven in the space where it should’ve been warm with his smell should be.
Her heart raced, her eyes shook; she then let out a blood curdling scream, that awoken the bird. She screeched
The raven which appeared to be Geldred jumped up, fluttering its wings aggressively until it froze and heard itself then it stared at the reflection.
A broken whimper escaped Lizsias lips; she stared at her husband in which became a crow, her brows furrowed as she stared into the pearly black shining eyes staring at her with the same confusion and scaredness, and suddenly. A voice echoed throughout the palace; it was an old, croaking, almost uncanny voice of their beloved.
“The raven here, my friend. It was an attraction of an older friend, then appears that the oldest regrets, resurfaced. Only a kiss, in three weeks. At 12am sharp. Will set thee free.”
Lizsias eyes widened, her grip grasping upon the bed sheets. And exclaimed fearfully.
“Th-There must be a sooner way!!!”
She exclaimed, shaking as tears threatened to spill. As one single burning hot tear dripped down her frozen cheek, she choked out a sob. Shaking her head repeatedly in denial.
“Please!”
She begged for a sooner way. But the witch, she grew a wicked idea. She twirled the pendant in her grasp, rolling it between her fingers, smiling as her voice echoed from the little ruby, as it spreads light throughout the room.
“Well, if you’re so so so… Desperate for his little life, then fight for it. Fight Velvet Goodshum for the ever so love of your life. Whoever walks out, alive, will truly be real love. And the other… Will fall”
The wicked smirked at the young girl, her yellow, decaying teeth showing. Lizsia cringed at the sight of her teeth. It seemed so disgusting, yet she agreed. The sight staring back at her made her stomach feel swirly, and her head light. As she stared at the older, almost faint old woman ahead of her. She sucked her lips and nodded.
“…Deal.”
Geldred stared up at Lizsia, chirping at her, as if he was saying, “No, No, No!”
But nobody can understand a raven…
As weeks passed, Lizsias mental health decreased so rapidly it grew hard to understand her own husband, The ring grew large on her thinning finger, her eyes grew hollow, she began to never want to wake up in the morning, and she began to stop eating, talking, bathing, brushing, and cleaning. She was a shallow version of herself. Never wanting to do anything with what she used to love back when she was younger. Even when she was dragged out of bed, it seemed dull, lesser than what it used to be. Just a hollow shell.
As the days began to pace. Her heart began to race, she stood up finally, her silky legs sliding off the warm bed that seemed so cold to her. The staring at the mirror consumed her thoughts entirely as she just stared at her faded face, so hollow of what used to be. As she grew weary of what she knew, the day came. The witches frown casted against the dying room. She furrowed her brows, and as she croaked to Lizsia...
"Why must you not fight the truthful war?"
Lizsia frowned at the old woman, and responded with a doubtful tone
"Well, I've not fought before. And even if I did... She is an archer... I would lose. She'd win."
The witch rolled her eyes towards Lizsia and rested her hand upon her hip, and chirped
"So? If Geldred here was the man of your dreams, you would fight for him. Either way. You have a higher chance with a sword."
Lizsia stared at her; she was blinking quickly, confused, and disorientated by what that was.
"I- I've NEVER fought someone... Especially with a sword!"
The witch groaned and stared at her, and muttered something under her breath,
"At this point, I'd have better luck fighting a dog with rabies..."
Lizsia stared up at her, brows furrowed.
“What is THAT supposed to mean...”
The witch groaned and turned away, and she muttered a sleeping and strength spell towards Lizsia, her final words she heard was
"You'll thank me when it's over."
Lizsia turned to her, and whispered feeling cold,
"Plea-please..."
She choked out, with the remaining strength that she grasped in her body.
As the world started to fade, her vision grew blurry; her last few seconds of hearing was just a worried raven chirping and fluttering over her, pure panic evident inside of the raven's small pupil. As she turned to stare, she mouthed.
"I love you..."
As she stared with colors starting to blur together, her smile stayed.
As the hours passed, the war grew close.
As it began to come around, she awoken with a new sense of power in her mind.
(:Time skip battle...
Velvet grabbed a single arrow, cocky and arrogant of how she boasts of how good she is. So sure, she would win, and Lizsia grabbed the finest sword she could grasp and hold in her hands, as she grew ready to fight. She headed out into the arena, staring at the amount of people to fight for the kings' side, then Velvets' side. A single raven was sitting on the chains of the arena, the long black talons curling around the rusty, old, breaking chains.
As the bell was struck, Lizsia ran towards Velvet, not with a war cry. But a simple whimper as she landed on her first strike, then the next. As the battle egged on and on, Velvet tried to land a punch but missed and caused her to fall back, in moments. Lizsia had the sword towards her throat, pointing it in the middle. She raised her nose, huffed, and panted.
"Y-You're a sick woman..."
Choked Lizsia, as she continued
"To believe I trusted you... To believe you were my greatest friend. And so, I gave you everything. I let you be a leech onto me... And this is how I am repaid?"
Lizsia snarled and let a slash throughout her shoulder. Velvet screamed in agony, one side let out a cheer of pride, the other fell silent and frozen...
Lizsia sighed and turned back one last time,
"Goodbye Lizsia. I have always been your friend. But you were never mine."
And that night, as Lizsia was bandaging the scratches everywhere, Geldreds' voice was heard.
"L-...M-My voice. My voice!
Lizsia froze and turned, she smiled and ran over, she wrapped her arms around him and kissed the temple of his forehead.
"Oh, Oh, Oh, thank the moon... You are okay..."
She said, burying her face into his warm shoulder. She sobbed out of the moment; she had been holding onto this, and Geldred said something so stupid. It might have ruined the moment, but it has created a new one; they both laughed at the absurd situation. And he said,
“My moon. Remind me NEVER to have a feather face again.”
They both laughed, their laughs mixing out of pleasure. The pleasure was quite nice, after weeks of never talking, and only one understood what one was saying.
"Moonie. I hate the way you laugh"
Geldred smiled and spoke
"Mi amor, you know you enjoy it every time you do make me laugh."
Lizsia let out a 'hmmph!' Noise, allowing it to echo throughout, letting their lives go more than just pages in this story.
The water in my lungs is old, stale,
a familiar hollowness and weight
I’ve carried for years.
The cold metal pressed against my palm,
the weight holding me like an anchor.
The weight, suffocating me like a brick in water,
drowning myself knowing an escape,
yet swearing the weight
would be hard to live with.
The effort as I reach for the light
while the weight of the darkness keeps dragging me down.
The weight of the metal grabs my fingers
and guides them through.
The exhaustion
for craving my screaming
in a quiet mind.
Then, the call for silence echoes through my mind,
static calling out to me
until it becomes unbearable,
as the sharpness tings my skin.
The red blossoms begin to bloom
through the pale moon of my skin.
It felt like a bird spreading its wings,
breezing through the wind,
the greatness of the high.
But as the feeling faded—
like a marker on a page—
the reality of what I’d done settled.
The feelings I’m holding always trip and stumble.
But that light, that light of an angel.
I’ve grasped it, holding it in my palm,
even as it throws itself against my heart.
I hold it tight.
Those red blossoms will forever stay in the locket.
Never feeling it again

I hold it tight. Those red blossoms will forever stay in the locket. Never feeling it again
