ok first off, it wasn't given to us.

the British colonists arrived in the 1600s after facing religious discrimination.

before that, in the 1500s, christopher columbus stole native american's land, massacring and enslaving them.

this is all because of manifest destiny and westward expansion

and the only reason we have the land is because guess what? we murdered so many people and stripped them of their land.

they wiped out a lot of the population simply to expand westward.

that does not justify anything

yes, manifest destiny did cause the genocide (and it is a genocide under the UN's definition) of many native americans

but every country has had its evils

but the past is the past and we must learn from the past to prepare for the future,
