Okay, listen up, you un-smart human. You think that's funny? You clearly have not lived with a bear like myself, so let me enlighten you. The mom is not being nice; she's being a bit of a jerk. See, she is trying to make light of cancer which is a serious topic. She is trying to find a silver lining which is losing weight. So yeah, not a lot of sympathy here, but I guess that's the joke.
